Education & Training

The Community Cookery, part of Newport Community Schools’ Aquidneck Island Adult Learning Center, offers dynamic, hands‑on education and workforce training from late fall through early spring.

Our programs are designed to help adults build real-world skills, gain confidence, and earn nationally recognized certifications that open doors to employment across the hospitality industry.

Industry‑Recognized Certifications

Through a blend of academic coursework and practical, hands-on experience, learners can achieve nationally ranked certifications in Hospitality, Lodging, and Food & Beverage—credentials that are valued by employers and strengthen every resume.

Hands-On Learning That Builds Real Skills

Students learn by doing—practicing essential hospitality tasks, developing customer‑service skills, and working in an active instructional kitchen environment. This applied training model prepares adults for entry‑level positions while providing a supportive pathway to career advancement.

Customized Training and Workshops for Businesses & Organizations

In addition to our core seasonal programs, the Community Cookery proudly offers customized training and workshops for local companies, nonprofits, and organizations. Whether you need staff development in food safety, lodging operations, customer service, or other hospitality skills, we can tailor a training package to meet your goals.

Empowering Learners. Strengthening the Community.

At the Community Cookery, we are committed to building a strong, skilled, hospitality‑ready workforce. Our programs help adults gain confidence, earn valuable credentials, and take the next step in their career journey.
